What you need to know before bleaching at home
Bleaching is different from regular coloring — it removes melanin pigment from the hair, so preparation is key. For 48 hours before bleaching, wash your hair with shampoo only and avoid using treatment or hair oil. Your scalp's natural oils act as a protective barrier. Always perform a patch test by applying a small amount behind your ear 48 hours before use.
Mix Agent 1 and Agent 2 in a 1:2 ratio
In a mixing bowl, combine Agent 1 (bleaching cream) and Agent 2 (developer) in a 1:2 ratio and mix thoroughly. Prepare the mixture right before application — mixing it in advance will reduce its effectiveness. The oil-cream formula applies more smoothly than traditional powder bleaches and is less likely to cause uneven results.
Application amount guide by hair length
Use generously to ensure even, streak-free results.
- Short bob: Agent 1 30g + Agent 2 60g or more
- Shoulder-length: Agent 1 60g + Agent 2 120g or more
- Chest-length: Agent 1 90g + Agent 2 180g or more
- Waist-length: Agent 1 120g + Agent 2 240g or more
Start at the nape and leave on for 30 minutes
Begin application at the nape, farthest from the scalp. The key is to apply near the roots last, as body heat speeds up the bleaching process in that area. After full application, wait 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and shampoo. Dry your hair completely with a blow dryer.
Post-bleach hair care and precautions
For the first week after bleaching, use a protein treatment to intensively care for damaged hair. If you need to re-bleach, wait at least two weeks between sessions. If your scalp feels irritated or turns red, rinse immediately and consult a professional if symptoms persist. Store any remaining product unmixed in a cool place.
