Step one in your skincare routine: oil cleansing
Cleansing oil is where every skincare routine begins. Sebum and makeup are oil-based, so they need to be dissolved with oil for a truly clean finish. Use this as your first cleanse, then follow with a foam cleanser to thoroughly clear out pore buildup. Pair it with the Heartleaf Foam Cleanser for even more effective sebum control.
Save it for your evening routine
Reserve this for your PM routine, when you need to dissolve the day's buildup of sebum, sunscreen, and makeup. In the morning, a gentle foam cleanser is usually enough. Focusing oil cleansing in the evening helps maintain your skin's moisture balance.
Start with dry hands and massage in circular motions
Pump 2–3 times into dry hands and gently massage over your entire face in circular motions. Pay extra attention to areas prone to blackheads, like around the nose and along the jawline, massaging for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then add a small amount of lukewarm water to emulsify—the oil will turn milky white. Rinse thoroughly several times for a clean, lightweight finish with no slippery residue.
Tailor your next steps to your skin concerns
- If blackheads and excess sebum are your main concerns, try using a BHA toner 2–3 times a week right after cleansing
- On days when your skin feels dry, follow immediately with a deeply hydrating toner and serum to lock in moisture
- If you're acne-prone, rest assured this product has been tested and confirmed non-comedogenic
