Use in your evening routine, at the cream step
After prepping skin with toner and essence, apply at the cream step. Retinol is sensitive to light and heat, so nighttime use is recommended. If you're layering with a serum, apply this product after your serum and before your moisturizer.
Nighttime only, start with 2–3 times a week
If you're new to retinol, it's important to start with 2–3 times a week to give your skin time to adjust. After about two weeks of gradual introduction, monitor how your skin responds and slowly increase frequency. During the adjustment period, you may experience tingling, redness, or flaking — these are temporary reactions.
Apply gently, against the direction of fine lines
Dispense a small amount and spread a thin layer over the entire face. For areas prone to wrinkles, apply against the direction of muscle movement for better results.
- Forehead: smooth on against the direction of lines, then blend in an S-motion
- Eye area: gently tap in with your ring finger
- Smile lines: sweep upward and outward
Pairing suggestions based on skin concerns
If pores and firmness are your main concerns, this product works beautifully on its own. If dryness is an issue, layer a hyaluronic acid serum underneath to create a hydrating base before applying retinol. For those targeting tone-evening as well, use a vitamin C serum in the morning and reserve retinol cream for the evening to keep actives separated.
Essential guidelines when using retinol
Even if you're not applying the product in the morning, always wear sunscreen during the period you're using retinol. Avoid using scrubs, peeling products, or AHA/BHA actives on the same day to prevent irritation. If sensitivity persists, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. Store in a cool, dark place as the ingredient is sensitive to light and heat.
