As the final step in your evening skincare routine
Apply retinal cream as the last step, after toner, essence, and serum have fully absorbed. A well-hydrated base allows the retinal to penetrate more effectively and comfortably. Avoid layering it over oils or balms, as they can interfere with absorption — order matters here.
Evening use only, with SPF the next morning
Retinal is light-sensitive, so it's best reserved for your nighttime routine. The morning after using retinal, always finish your skincare with a broad-spectrum sunscreen to protect your skin. If daytime use is unavoidable, SPF is non-negotiable.
Start slowly and give your skin time to adjust
- First 2 weeks: Every other evening only, use a small amount (about 2mm) on targeted areas of concern
- From week 3 onward: You can begin using it nightly, applying a rice grain-sized amount (about 4mm) across the entire face
Everyone's skin responds differently, so we recommend following this gradual introduction. For areas of particular concern, you can apply a second thin layer.
Pairing suggestions based on your skin goals
If fine lines and firmness are your focus, layer a peptide serum underneath before sealing it in with this cream. For added tone-evening benefits, combine it with a niacinamide essence for a synergistic effect. If you experience sensitivity or redness, pair it with a soothing cream rich in calming ingredients to help keep skin comfortable.
Important reminders when using retinal
Avoid using high-strength vitamin C, physical scrubs, or AHA/BHA products on the same evening — alternate them on different nights if needed. Store in a cool place (3–10°C) to help maintain retinal stability over time. If you notice unusual reactions such as red patches, swelling, or itching, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist. Not suitable for children under 3 years of age.
