First step in your evening routine: balancing pH with a toner
This is a toner-step product designed to be used right after cleansing. It helps restore your skin's pH to a mildly acidic level (5.5) after washing, which can leave it slightly alkaline, and preps your skin to better absorb the essence or cream that follows. Using it in the evening is especially effective, as skin regeneration is most active overnight.
Use daily after your evening cleanse
This is a nightcare product that clears away the oil and impurities accumulated during the day while helping to restore skin balance, so it's best used in your evening routine. It contains PHA (a gentle exfoliating ingredient) and LHA (a sebum-regulating ingredient), but it has completed low-irritation testing, so it's safe for daily use.
Three ways to use, depending on your skin's needs
- When you need intensive soothing: Soak a cotton pad generously with toner and place it on irritated areas for 5 to 10 minutes
- When you need a moisture boost: Pour an appropriate amount into your palms and gently pat it into your entire face until absorbed
- When you need to refine skin texture: Dampen a cotton pad with toner and gently wipe along the direction of your skin's natural texture
Pairing with your next step, based on skin concerns
If excess oil and dead skin are your main concerns, follow up with a lightweight hydrating essence. If dryness is an issue, try using the toner as a mask to flood your skin with moisture, then layer on a recovery cream to help strengthen your barrier. For skin that's red from external irritation, pairing this with a cica-infused cream can help support calming.
Important notes for use
While PHA and LHA are gentle exfoliating ingredients, if this is your first time using them, start slowly and monitor how your skin responds. Using them on the same night as retinol products may cause irritation, so it's best to alternate. If stinging or redness persists during use, discontinue and consult a dermatologist.
